Theresa (Lavoie) Murie says “you must walk every day, and at the same time each day” if you want to live a long healthy life.
Theresa celebrated her 100th birthday in November at Lions Manor. “My legs aren’t giving out on me,” she said proudly, and added she learned her love of the outdoors from growing up on a farm near Dugald. Her parents also taught Theresa and her sister independence, and how to take the bus if they needed. She followed the advice to sneak home from boarding school one time, her dislike of the school a very clear memory.
Theresa represented Manitoba in competitive bowling, took up target shooting, and was a member of Toastmasters for almost 50 years. She contributed to From Far and Wide: Canadian Stories, a Lions Manor Toastmasters book published in 2017.
Granddaughter Danielle flew into town (front page photos) and ordered the special bouquet from the Flowers in Bloom shop on Ellice Ave.
Family members Gabi (from left), Louise, Brett and Cheryl celebrated Theresa’s big day.
